Kick-Off For 2014 Inner Circle of Twelve Luncheon

The American Cancer Society kicked-off its 2014 Inner Circle of Twelve Luncheon at an exclusive VIP cocktail reception hosted by Michelle and Ralph Cruz and Ramona and Aldo Busot at the Cruz residence in Gables Estates.

This intimate gathering was attended by some of Miami’s most prestigious community leaders and philanthropists, including the 2014 Inner Circle of Twelve Honorees: Sarah Arison, Betty Brandt, Alicia Cervera, Teresita Haskett, Stella Holmes, Christina Martin, Laura Munilla, Yuri Rossi, Pamela Silva Conde, Debra Strochak, Marielena Villamil and Vivian Williams and the Philanthropic Chair: Mary Anne Shula. The Inner Circle of Twelve Luncheon will be held on Friday, October 24, at the InterContinental Miami.

Friends of St. Jude Miami, the young professionals group dedicated to raising awareness and funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and chaired by Jeb Bush Jr., hosted the seventh annual International Dermatology “It’s All About the Kids” event, presented by the Andrés Asion Foundation. This year, St. Jude recognized respected actor, producer and philanthropist, Eduardo Verastegui with the “Friends of St. Jude Ambassador Award.”

The Consulate General of Argentina in Miami

The Consulate General of Argentina in Miami organized a banquet to commemorate The First National Government, a patriotic holiday. It featured a presentation by the Selección Nacional de Tango as well as a speech by the consul general, Ambassador Miguel Talento. The party took place at the Marriott Marquis hotel on Saturday, May 24th, culminating in a toast at midnight to bring in the holiday on the 25th.

Five Questions for Stella Holmes by Social Miami

Stella Holmes is one of this city’s great influencers. A woman with tremendous vision who is unafraid to take risk, Ms. Holmes spearheads ambitious projects that bring cultures together. In recent years, she has dedicated herself to documentary filmmaking and has seen tremendous success. Her first production, West Encounters East (WEE), has been recognized with two important industry accolades.

The documentary was named a Silver winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards, and Ms. Holmes received the 2014 Brazilian International Press Award in the Cinema and Film category.

In anticipation of WPBT2’s encore presentation at 10 pm on Friday, May 9, SocialMiami sat down with Ms. Holmes to learn what makes her creativity tick and why Miami is the city she calls home.
